Painting: Chakra Mandala Art Energy Series
My art reflects my deep integration of yoga, meditation, and intuitive painting practices, aligning with source energy to create transformative visual experiences. I draw upon symbolism of yogic chakra diagrams, Tibetan Mandala Thangka, and sacred geometries such as the Sri Yantra and Flower of Life. These sacred forms serve as conduits for expressing the subtle energies that flow within and around us.
The mandalas are universal, avoiding physical body references to emphasize the energetic flow, and are powerful energetic activations. I am connecting to and deepening my perception of subtle internal and external sensations of our electro-magnetic energy field, the torus field surrounding the heart, brain, and whole body. My painting is a translation of sensations of energy pulsing through the body and energy field into paint felt while sun/star gazing, and grounding with bare feet – becoming a column of light, I extend my energy field bringing source energy from above and below into the heart chakra, My Paintings are about making invisible/unseen to seen, they are improvised trusting in source– going from the unknown into the known, transitioning thresholds into the liminal – the in-between.
I am creating a visual language manifesting the invisible elements on the edge of perception, evoking energy vortexes, energy-forces, expansion/concentration, versus the extended makarba energy field. I also connect with nature, painting the energy of the elements, elementals, nature spirits, Fire: Sun, and Earth: Grounding.
I invite viewers to stand and ground themselves, align their hearts with the heart chakra at the center of most of my paintings, and breathe deeply. In this state of presence, my art mirrors the connection between earth, body, and higher source vibrations.
Video: VJ ANU-DHYANA
From 2000, I started working in video as “moving painting,” and after my MFA, I became a VJ. My video process involves filming my painting process and “Wellington on a Good Day”. All video records are edited in Premiere and After Effects with filters reinforcing the Mandela aspect or abstracting them as a form of drawing to feed back into my painting.
As a VJ, I create visual journeys that are deeply tuned in and aligned with the DJ, I work at connecting to source so my imagery is ready to change in advance as the feeling of the music changes. Creating an immersive experience that resonates with the energy of the music and the participating dancers.
The repetitive beat of electronic music mirror ancient tribal drumming, evoking a trance-like state that connects us to something primal and universal. In this way, I can become almost like a contemporary shaman, channeling energy and weaving visuals that guide audiences into a collective journey of movement, transformation, and connection.
I work with video as a visual journey a digital metaphor for immersing oneself in the land and sea to reconnect with nature, reclaim a sense of wildness, and fully embody life. Through these combined practices—rewilding, cold water immersion, and VJing—I explore and share pathways to deeper embodiment, self-awareness, and alignment with source and the rhythms of nature and the cosmos.
